Legal Impacts

The FDA hasn't exactly come up with any solutions that would address the matters associated with the unappeased amount of patients who need donor organs. They currently have a long waiting list for those patients; waiting for a perfect match and more people to start donating their organs. Donating organs is absolutely legal and ethical in society today. However, overall the FDA does not have a functioning solution for this issues.

This is where Biofabrication comes into play. Regulated by the FDA, Biofabrication has become a major focus since it will lower costs of life changing medical devices.  The thing about this new technology is that it can print out new products with utmost accuracy, tailoring it to the patient's body unlike other types of devices, which can't tell when the piece has exceeded the limited capacity.

In order to biofabricate organs, DNA must be taken from the patient so that the organs will be similar and not foreign with the body. Therefore, most patients would probably have to submit cell samples so that the organs could be made. Of course, their DNA is kept on a private file.

Moving aside from this topic however, is that 3D printers are a controversial item to own. These printers have so much power, being able to print anything that is demanded and so, it has been discussed that maybe 3D printers should not be appropriate property to everyone. This ownership could prove to be a threat.
